Resourceful information about voltage regulators.
Automatic Voltage Regulator
The AVR will take in a wide
range of voltage levels and will automatically output voltage with a much
narrower range.
DC Voltage Regulator
A DC adaptor that has a voltage regulator
built into it.
Power Voltage Regulator
These can correct power quality
problems.
Generator Voltage Regulator
They are used to increase the voltage
in a generator.
Voltage Regulation
To provide a near constant
voltage in a wide range of load conditions.
High Voltage Regulator
This type of voltage regulator
will provide a full output at a lower rpm.
Line Voltage Regulator
This type of
voltage regulator will give a constant output voltage despite the
fluctuations at its input.
Voltage Regulator Test
Voltage regulators are a good tool
to verify if an appliance or an electrical outlet is providing the power
needed to operate your equipment.
AC Voltage Regulator
This type of voltage regulator
will provide precision input AC power.

Voltage Regulator |
Voltage regulator is the
place to learn all about voltage regulation for many of the different
applications that are used in today's industry.
What is a Voltage
Regulator?
A
voltage regulator
is
basically
a
device
that
is
used
to
automatically
maintain
a
constant
level
of
voltage
to
your
equipment. The voltage regulator will generally have three legs that will
convert the varying input voltage and will then produce a constant output
voltage that is regulated. The voltage regulator is also capable of
either stepping up or stepping down the incoming voltage which in turn will
transform it to a different output voltage level.
How Does A Voltage Regulator
Work?
A
voltage
regulator
in today's modern electronic world simply operates by taking the actual
output voltage and it compares it to the internal fixed reference voltage.
Any difference that is found will be amplified and will then be used to
control a regulation element. At this point, a negative feedback servo
control loop is formed. If the output voltage appears to be too low, the
regulation element will then produce a higher voltage. It will also work in
the opposite form as well. If the output voltage is too high, then the
voltage regulator is commanded to produce a much lower output. In some
instances, the
voltage
regulator
will just stop sourcing the current and it will depend on the current draw
of what it is driving and will pull the voltage down. In this instance, the
output voltage is constant. The control loop on the
voltage
regulator
should be designed in a way so it can produce a desired tradeoff between the
speed of response and also the stability.
Different Types of Voltage Regulators
Various types of voltage regulators
are discussed such as
DC voltage regulators,
AC voltage regulators,
generator
voltage regulators,
automatic voltage regulators,
line voltage
regulators,
high voltage
regulators
and
power voltage regulators.
The information should provide a pretty good insight as to what all of these
voltage regulators can do to provide the voltage that is needed to power
your equipment. Along with providing this information,
voltage regulator
test
is discussed along with a discussion of what
voltage regulation
is.
